How to Prepare Crispy Beef Cones at Home

Crispy Beef Cones are a delicious snack made from seasoned minced beef wrapped in thin pastry, rolled into cone shapes, and fried or baked until golden and crunchy. They’re perfect for parties, evening snacks, or even as a unique appetizer for special occasions.

This recipe is simple, affordable, and doesn’t require any special equipment.

Ingredients

For the Beef Filling

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (grated or powdered)
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika or chili powder (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 seasoning cube (optional)

For the Cones

  • Spring roll wrappers or thin pastry sheets
  • Flour + water paste (for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Step 1: Prepare the Beef Filling

  1. Heat a pan over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.

  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until soft and slightly golden.

  3. Add the garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. Add the minced beef and cook, stirring frequently, until browned.

  5. Season with salt, curry powder, black pepper, paprika, and seasoning cube.

  6. Cook until all excess moisture evaporates.

  7. Remove from heat and allow the filling to cool completely.

Tip: A dry filling helps keep the cones crispy.

Step 2: Shape the Cones

  1. Cut the spring roll wrappers into triangle shapes if needed.

  2. Take one wrapper and roll it into a cone shape, sealing the edge with flour paste.

  3. Spoon the cooled beef filling into the cone.

  4. Fold and seal the open end securely with flour paste.

Make sure the cones are tightly sealed to prevent oil from entering during frying.

Step 3: Fry the Beef Cones

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.

  2. Fry the cones in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.

  3. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Optional Baking Method

For a lighter version:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. Brush the cones lightly with oil.

  3. Bake for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crisp.
